(Semaglutide)
Ozempic® (Semaglutide) is a prescription GLP-1 medication used along with diet and exercise to help improve blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Ozempic is available as a once-weekly injection and a once-daily pill. The injectable form is also approved to reduce certain cardiovascular risks in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease, and to reduce the risk of worsening kidney disease, kidney failure, and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The tablet also has an approved cardiovascular-risk-reduction indication for certain adults with type 2 diabetes at high risk for cardiovascular events.
Ozempic® may help some patients lose weight, but Ozempic® is not a weight-loss drug.
