Zepbound® (tirzepatide) is an FDA-approved prescription medication designed to help eligible adults lose excess weight and maintain long-term weight reduction. Unlike medications that target only GLP-1, Zepbound works on two hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which help regulate appetite, reduce hunger, and decrease food intake.
It is administered as a once-weekly injection and is prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Zepbound is approved for adults with obesity or those who are overweight and have at least one weight-related medical condition.
In addition to weight management, Zepbound is also FDA-approved to treat moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in adults with obesity.
